Stick War Story and Lore Explained

The Stick War story and lore explained — from the world of Inamorta and the rise of the Order Empire to the Chaos conflict, King Zarek, Medusa and the full series timeline.

Stick War carries more story than its minimal stick-figure look suggests. Beneath the skirmishes is a consistent setting: a world called Inamorta, nations that worship their own weapons as gods, and a war between the Order Empire and the Chaos Empire that runs across the series. This hub collects the story, lore and timeline — each section links to a deeper page where one exists.

Quick Story Summary

In the world of Inamorta, rival nations devoted to different weapons turn their craft into religion and wage war to spread their "way". One nation — the Order Empire — follows the way of peace and knowledge instead, and refuses to worship weapons. Surrounded by hostile neighbors, Order launches a pre-emptive conquest, absorbs each nation's technology, and eventually unifies Inamorta. Years later a new threat rises from the north: the Chaos Empire, led by Medusa, born from Order's enslavement of the giants. Order and the rebel nations unite, defeat Chaos, and behead Medusa — but the story continues across later entries.

Original → Legacy → Saga

The original Stick War establishes Order’s conquest of the weapon nations. Stick War: Legacy retells that core campaign in its own release, while Stick War: Saga is a later game with its own campaign, multiplayer systems and expanded cast. Keep those game scopes separate: a unit, rule or event shown in Saga should not be assumed to exist in Legacy. Saga’s named cast includes Zarek and Zilaros, with generals such as Atreyos and Kytchu; their individual pages are not yet published, so the Saga hub is the current verified entry point.

What Is Inamorta?

Inamorta is the world of the Stick War series — the setting introduced in the original game's opening narration. The playable region is dominated by weapon-worshipping nations: the sword-following Swordwrath, the archer Archidons, the spear-and-shield Speartons and the mage Magikill. Beyond them lie neutral territories and the dangerous wilds of No Man's Land, home of the giants. For the full breakdown of the world, its regions and its places in the timeline, see the Inamorta explained page.

The Order Empire

Order is the nation the player commands. Its people follow the "way of peace and knowledge" and do not worship weapons as gods — which, in Inamorta, makes them a target. Under its leadership Order decides the only defense is to strike first, conquering the weapon nations one by one and taking their technology. What begins as survival becomes an empire. The empires guide covers Order's role in the wider conflict, and the Order Empire page tells its full story.

Swordwrath Nation

The Swordwrath follow the way of the sword — aggressive melee fighters who believe the blade is the only answer. They are the first nation Order conquers, and their warriors later serve within Order's own armies. For their gameplay role, see the Swordwrath unit page, and for their history and culture, the Swordwrath lore page.

Archidon Nation

The Archidons follow the way of the bow. Ranged and skirmishing in style, they can hold a line from distance but suffer up close. Order absorbs their archery after conquering them. See the Archidon unit page for combat details and the Archidon lore page for their story.

Spearton Nation

The Speartons follow the way of the spear. Disciplined, armored and strong in formation, they become one of Order's most reliable troops after their homeland falls. Their shields define both their culture and their combat style. See the Spearton unit page and the Spearton lore page.

Magikill Nation

The Magikill follow the way of the mage. Masters of magic, they can summon minions and strike from range, making them the most feared nation in Inamorta. Order's conquest of the Magikill brings sorcery into the imperial army. See the Magikill unit page and the Magikill lore page.

Giants

Giants are the towering natives of No Man's Land, the volcanic wasteland at the edge of Inamorta. Order's march does not stop at their borders: the giants are defeated and enslaved, and that cruelty plants the seed of the Chaos conflict. See the Giant unit page.

Rise of the Chaos Empire

After Order unifies Inamorta, its conquest of the giants ignites a new war. The Chaos Empire rises in the north, led by the medusa queen Medusa, who sees the enslaved giants as her own people. Chaos declares war on Order — and this time the conquered nations side with Order, uniting against a common enemy. Chaos is defeated and Medusa is beheaded, ending her reign. The empires guide explains both sides, and the Chaos Empire page tells the empire's full story.

King Zarek

King Zarek is the emperor of the Order Empire in the modern era of the series. Originally a farmer, he leads Order to conquer all of Inamorta, and appears as a unit and commander in Stick War: Legacy and later entries. He is one of the few characters who does not follow any of the weapon "ways". See the King Zarek page for his full story.

Medusa

Medusa is the monarch of the Chaos Empire — a medusa spellcaster whose powers include petrifying enemies from a distance. She wages war on Order to free the enslaved giants, and her defeat marks the end of the Chaos Empire's first era. Later entries reveal her true name as Gargos. See the Medusa page for her full story.

Stick War Legacy Campaign Story

Stick War: Legacy is the modern remake of the original game for mobile and PC, released in 2016. Its campaign revisits Order's conquest of Inamorta — the same war that started the series — rebuilt with more missions, units and upgrades. The opening narration and story structure mirror the original Stick War. See the how to play guide for how the campaign plays, and the Stick War: Legacy story page for its full plot.

Later Series Events

The story continues beyond the original conquest. Stick War II: Order Empire deals with the rebellion of the conquered nations and the rise of Chaos, while Stick War: Legacy retells the first war and later entries extend the timeline with new campaigns, characters and conflicts. Each game stays in the same world of Inamorta and the same struggle between order and chaos.

Timeline

The series uses a relative chronology rather than fixed dates: the weapon nations rise first, Order conquers Inamorta, the conquered nations rebel, Chaos rises and falls, and the later entries continue from there. Because the games never give exact years, events are best described in order rather than by date. See the complete timeline for every event in sequence.

Canon vs Community Lore

Stick War has an active community that builds on the official setting with its own empires, characters, family trees and timelines. This page and its story sections stick to what the games themselves present: dialogue, narration, campaigns and developer-published material. Community-created lore is not treated as canon here, and anything that is interpretation rather than established fact is labeled as such.

treat dramatic details as approximate.
