Swordwrath Lore

The story of the Swordwrath — the sword-worshipping nation of Stick War — from their homeland and philosophy to their conquest by Order and their place in the series.

The Swordwrath are one of the great weapon nations of Inamorta — a people devoted to the sword and to the belief that the blade is the only answer. This page covers their lore: their nation, their philosophy, their war with Order and their role across the series. For combat stats and builds, see the Swordwrath unit page.

Who Are the Swordwrath?

The Swordwrath are the sword-following nation introduced in the original Stick War. In the opening narration they are one of the peoples who have turned their weapon into a religion — obsessed with the sword to the point of worship. They are fast, aggressive melee fighters who believe their way of war is the only way, and they are willing to teach it to their neighbors through battle.

Homeland & Nation

The Swordwrath homeland sits among the weapon nations of Inamorta, near the lands of the Archidons and the Magikill. Like the other weapon nations, their identity is built around their craft: swords are not just tools but the center of their culture and faith. In the first campaign, the Swordwrath are among the first nations Order marches against.

Weapon Philosophy

The Swordwrath way is the way of the sword: close the distance, strike hard, and trust the blade. Their culture treats the sword as sacred, and their warriors train to overwhelm enemies with speed and numbers. This single-minded devotion makes them dangerous in battle but rigid in strategy — a weakness Order exploits by out-producing and out-maneuvering them.

Role in the Campaign

In the original Stick War and its remake, Stick War: Legacy, the Swordwrath are an early opponent for Order. Their swordsmen fall to Order’s stronger economy and line, and after their homeland is conquered their warriors are absorbed into Order’s army. From then on the Swordwrath fight for Order — the same warriors who once opposed it.

Integration into Order

Order’s defining trait is absorbing the technology of the nations it conquers, and the Swordwrath are the first example. Their swords give Order its first real melee unit and set the pattern for the rest of the campaign: each conquered nation contributes its way of war to the imperial army. The Order Empire page covers how this works across the series.

Later Series Role

The Swordwrath remain a fixture of the series after their conquest. They appear across later entries as Order troops and as part of the rebel forces when the conquered nations rise against the empire. Their identity as sword-followers persists even as their allegiance shifts — a constant in the changing politics of Inamorta.
